ESP32
The development board ESP32-DevKit-LiPo, designed by Olimex , is based on and pin compatible with the Espressif ESP32 DevKit C. A nice feature is that the board can operate on power from a LiPo battery when external power is unavailable. LiPo battery management, charging and discharging, is implemented on the board. All components are industrial grade with an operating temperature between -40 and +85 degrees Centigrade.

The development board Lolin D1 mini, designed by Wemos , is built on the ESP8266 processor. Not as powerful as the ESP32, but the small board dimensions and the low power requirements are clearly advantageous for certain projects. Especially when building an ESP-node for the latest type of smart energy meters where the board can be powered directly by the P1 port
.
Be aware that the headers are not soldered to the board from the manufacturer. However several alternative header configurations are included which increases the versatility.
